Glossary Builder
The "Glossary Builder" enables teachers to easily
and quickly build glossaries for a specific text, which can then be
distributed to students or posted on the teacher's web page for
viewing or downloading. The glossary can automatically be configured for flashcard drills (see
below).
- Look up word in dictionary, click on "Add to Glossary"
button.
- The program will ask for the name of the
story, page number, etc and enter that information in the glossary.
- Or, teachers can use the any of the many existing
glossaries created for teaching classes on Israeli literature which
are included with this software..

|
|
Flash Card Builder
-
Utilizing the "Flash Card
Builder",
teachers can prepare customized lists of vocabulary words from
glossaries created with the "Glossary Builder" (see above).
-
Students can then use the
customized flashcard decks to learn assigned vocabulary using the
flash card software
included in the software "Modern Hebrew for Speakers of

Play Any
Audio & Display The Accompanying Text |
|

-
Teachers can save text
to accompany their recorded audio either in Microsoft WordTM
or Davka WriterTM
as a ".txt" file (in the designated folder). They can then email the
files to the students, or if using a Language Resource Center, they
can place the files on the computers there.
-
Students can
easily access the files using the program "Play Any Audio".
(Students must have the software "Modern Hebrew for English Speakers"
to access this program.)
-
Text from chosen file is displayed on the screen.
-
Students can slow down / speed up the audio speed.
-
Students can determine which segment of text they
want the audio to start at. It will repeat that section until another
segment is chosen, enabling students to practice reading the same segment
of text until they can read it smoothly.
-
The recorder on the screen gives students the ability to record themselves
and then listen to their reading for immediate feedback. It is
also a fun way for students to practice reading text aloud.
-
Students
can save and compress their recordings for submission (by e-mail) to
their instructors.

|
Flash cards - programs
Existing flashcard decks are matched to the content of several
textbooks. You have your choice of which textbooks vocabulary to use.
Or use a
customized list as described above.
The flashcard software has three
learning levels:
-
Preview the words,
-
Matching
the English word to the correct Hebrew word,
-
Student types in the translation of the words as
they appear on the screen. Students can
choose the option of typing in the English translation of the Hebrew
word, or, typing in the Hebrew translation of the
English word.
|
Audio Recorder
-
The "Audio Recorder" enables instructors to
record text or dialogue.
-
The audio can be saved as a compressed file that
can then be e-mailed to students or used in the language lab.
-
This utility includes record, pause
recording, resume recording, stop and play buttons.
-
Requires a microphone connected to the computer
to use this utility.
-
The software automatically saves the file in a
folder that is pre-programmed for access by other units in our
software packages.
