FLASH CARDS FOR HEBREW HERITAGE VOCABULARY - OVER 400 WORDS

  1. Flash card "decks" of ten words or less  are organized around nine different categories: 1) Synagogue, 2) Holiday and Home, 3) Life Cycle events, 4) Shabbat, 5) Culture and Values, 6) Israel, 7) Exclamations, 8) Personal Characterizations, and 9) Assorted Words.

  2. Or, the software enables you to choose the specific words you want to study. The software then saves your words in decks for your use.
 
1.  Study Mode.
  • Go through each deck as many times as you wish to memorize the vocabulary. Each "flash card" shows a Hebrew word with its English meaning. There is audio for each Hebrew word.  There is an audio repeat button.
  • Explanatory comments are included as necessary.
  • You can choose to "hide" the Hebrew or English words to check yourself as you work on memorization of the words in your chosen deck.

 
2.  Drag to Match
  • You can easily succeed in this drag and drop exercise as a first step in reinforcing  your memorization of the words you've studied.  Try for a perfect score!
  • The Hebrew word is pronounced out loud after each correct answer.
  • You can choose from a predetermined category of words, or from the file with the words you specifically choose.

  • When ready, proceed to the flashcard drills, which test you on the ability to produce the vocabulary. Words must be spelled correctly. Words not yet mastered reappear in the drill. Audio for all words builds your ability to hear and understand the words when spoken.

    IDENTIFYING JEWISH RITUAL  SYMBOLS and OBJECTS

    Learn to identify twenty-four  ritual symbols and objects used in  the synagogue or home.

    • Become familiar with the name and purpose of an object by clicking on the accompanying Hebrew word.

    • Click to have the name of each object repeated as you practice saying what you've heard.

    • Quiz yourself after each section of six pictures by dragging the word for each object to the matching picture.

    SPELLING AS YOU  WRITE WORDS

    This unit enables you to practice writing words you have learned in the flash card drills. The words from your chosen deck appear on the screen as your writing model.

    • Develop your writing skills.
    • Learn to spell of the words you have learned.
